Every vineyard is a unique place, a complex mix of
climate, grape varietal, topography, grape growing tradition, and even
grower personality. But even if a vineyard in Australia isn't worked the
same way it is in Italy or Oregon, the fundamental cycle they follow is
essentially the same. So as growers step out into their cold, wet vineyards
in mid-winter, they follow in footsteps well-worn by thousands before
them.
This growing and winemaking cycle is the backbone of a Life in Vine. Here's an interactive look what happens over the course of a year in a vineyard. While it has a little more detail than the half-hour doc, it's meant to be a general introduction. |
